Pre Owned: Devon Modern J5 Custom 5-String Bass — Boutique

Bass Enterprises is proud to offer this stunning Devon Modern J5 5-String Bass, a boutique-style instrument combining beautiful craftsmanship, modern playability, and a serious electronics package from Nordstrand.

The first thing that grabs your attention is the incredible figured wood top and matching headstock. Paired with the clean, pickguard-free Modern J design and maple fingerboard, this bass has an elegant, contemporary appearance that looks every bit as impressive up close as it does on stage.

Premium Nordstrand Electronics

This Devon J5 is equipped with dual Nordstrand pickups paired with a Nordstrand 3-band active preamp, providing a wide tonal range with excellent clarity, punch, and definition.

The preamp operates at 18 volts, providing plenty of headroom for a clean, dynamic response—especially useful with a modern 5-string where maintaining definition across the entire frequency range is essential.

From deep and powerful lows to articulate mids and crisp highs, the electronics give you the flexibility to shape this bass for virtually any playing situation.

Modern J-Style Versatility

The familiar dual-pickup J-style layout provides a great foundation, while the Nordstrand electronics take the concept into modern boutique territory.

Dial in warm, full fingerstyle tones, aggressive bridge-pickup definition, crisp slap sounds, or a big contemporary active tone with plenty of authority.

The extended low range maintains the punch and articulation a serious 5-string player needs, while the wide tonal palette makes this an excellent instrument for both stage and studio use.
